Contact with the eyes should be avoided   • Metronidazole should be used with care in patients with evidence of, or history of, blood dyscrasia   • There have been reports of prolongation of prothrombin time in patients taking oral metronidazole with coumarin or warfarin. Although less likely with topical administration, drug interactions should be kept in mind when Noritate is prescribed for patients receiving anticoagulant treatment   • Noritate should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Exercise caution in prescribing Noritate to nursing mothers. Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients have not been established   • Treatment-related adverse events reported in clinical studies were: application site reaction, condition aggravated, paresthesia, acne, and dry skin.
